Residents at Covenant Living at Windsor Park recently welcomed Sue from Violet’s Kitchen, a mobile emergency resource that provides food, supplies, and essential support to homeless veterans and others in need. Sue shared how their mission has grown from a simple idea into a lifeline that offers meals, warm clothing, survival gear, help navigating services, and pathways to safe shelter.
For the past year, a dedicated group of Windsor Park residents has gathered weekly to “upcycle” plastic grocery bags into waterproof sleeping mats. They fold and cut the bags into strips, link them into plastic yarn, and knit or crochet the yarn into durable mats that keep belongings dry and off the ground.
During Sue’s visit, residents presented 20 newly completed mats to support the individuals Violet’s Kitchen serves. It was a meaningful moment of partnership, reminder of the impact small acts of care can have, and a reflection of our community’s ongoing commitment to service. bit.ly/3XngWDD ... See MoreSee Less
