A very special Veteran Portrait Presentation program was held at Windsor Park, during which artist Don Ryan presented 30 portraits to veterans from Windsor Park and the surrounding area. This was the much-anticipated finale of an ambitious project began nearly five years ago. Don, who is also a veteran, wanted to use his talents to honor others who had also served in our country's armed forces. After his Hometown Heroes art installation in Chicago in November, 2023, it was time to give each veteran or their family members their portrait. Local veterans, our residents, their families and friends gathered to see all 30 portraits on display, hear a bit about each veteran's service, and enjoy refreshments and stories of their time in the military. Each year as winter loosens its grip, we hold a Life Connect Fair to remind our residents all the ways they can get involved here on campus. We have 50+ committees and interest groups, such as the Center for Lifelong Learning, The Echo newsletter, the Brazilian Language Exchange, the Fine Arts Committee, Resident Council, musical groups, book clubs and so much more!
